SEMARANG – PSIS Semarang did not want to waste time in making improvements to boost performance ahead of the third round of the 2025/26 Pegadaian Championship. Most recently, the management officially appointed Angel Alfredo Vera as technical director.
The name Angel Alfredo Vera is certainly not unfamiliar in Indonesian football. He has extensive experience coaching various clubs in Indonesia.
Through assistant manager Reza Handhika, the management explained that the appointment of Alfredo Vera as technical director is a long-term step aimed at preparing the team more thoroughly and ensuring that the club’s vision can be implemented more effectively going forward.
“We are introducing Alfredo Vera as the Technical Director of PSIS today. With his position, we hope he can work in synergy with the head coach, who will be appointed soon, to further strengthen the team’s performance in terms of philosophy and playing vision so that PSIS can show something positive in the third round,” said Reza on Monday (February 2) night.
With his experience across many clubs in Indonesia, he added that management also hopes Alfredo Vera can contribute from a technical standpoint.
“His presence is certainly expected to lift the team’s current performance, and further, hopefully become a new synergy with the coaching staff so the team can become more solid and produce positive results both now and in the future,” Reza said again.
Alfredo Vera himself is a coach holding a UEFA Pro License. He began his coaching career in Indonesia by leading Persela in 2013. He later coached Persipura in the 2016/17 season and was trusted as head coach of Persebaya in the 2018/19 season.
Meanwhile, in the 2024/25 season he was appointed head coach of Madura United FC. The technical director role is not unfamiliar to the 53-year-old, as he previously served as Technical Director at Madura United in the 2025/26 season.
Previously, PSIS Semarang management officially ended their cooperation with head coach Jafri Sastra on Saturday (January 31) night. The decision was made following management’s evaluation during the second round of the 2025/26 Pegadaian Championship.
